Q1 Trending Markets over $500K

Using our CLASSIC.COM Market Benchmark*, we’ve analyzed over 6,000 individual markets** to pinpoint the top Growing and Slowing Markets across three distinct value tiers: Over $500K, Between $100K-500K, and Under $100K. To qualify for this list, a market must have more than one sold listing between January-March 2024.

Note: CMB is an indicator of how recent market activity has impacted typical market values. It does not guarantee individual vehicle appreciation.

Overall, we saw activity in more than 80 markets where CMB was over 500k+. Around 75% of those markets saw activity that shifted their CMB above 5%, and around 40% of these shifted above 10%. On average, the CMB’s of all markets grew by 9%, meaning that the growing forces exceeded the decreasing forces for this tier of the market. However, approximately half grew and the other half didn’t. The latter means that overall, it is hard to draw conclusions around the 500k+ markets, meaning that it is best to analyze the individual behavior of these markets. We will focus this analysis on markets with more than one sale this quarter.

Topping our list with most growth is the Delahaye 135MS, which saw two very notable sales this quarter. Even though this market had only seen other 8 sales in the past 5 years, we saw two very notable sales at the Amelia auctions which increased the CMB by 125%.

In second place is the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, which made the list thanks to $3M and $1.73M sales at RM Sotheby’s Miami auction and online through Collecting Cars, which in turn pushed the CMB up a whopping 73%. The Veyron Grand Sport market had only seen one auction sale back in 2022, but saw a couple of dealers offer examples at a similar price point late in 2023.

Next down the line were some of the most-common blue-chip cars normally seen at auction: the Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona (the convertible) with a 30% growth; the Porsche 918 Spyder with 20% growth; the Bentley 4 ½ Liter with 17% growth; the SL 300 Gullwing with 12% growth; the Porsche 959 with 11% growth; the Ferrari Enzo with 10% growth; and finally the Ford GT40 and 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Touring with 9% growth each.

* The CLASSIC.COM Market Benchmark (CMB) is a benchmark value for vehicles in a given Market based on data accumulated by CLASSIC.COM and calculated by a proprietary algorithm that takes into account volume and recency of each data point. CMB can be used to assess the performance of a market over a given time period. However, it does not represent the value of a specific vehicle.

** A Market on CLASSIC.COM is a grouping of comparable vehicles that have, at a minimum, the same Make, Model, and Model Generation. When relevant for purposes of valuation, a Market may be further segmented by Model Variant, Trim, Transmission Type, Body Style, and other factors.
