Scottsdale looks a little different these days, and that is not a bad thing. What used to be a sprawl of five or more auctions across town has settled into a tighter lineup of three, Barrett-Jackson, Bonhams, and RM Sotheby’s, and they did not waste the opportunity this January. Dollar volume landed right in line with 2023, which was peak pandemic-boom territory, and that alone should make you pause. Compared to last year, both dollar volume and average price moved meaningfully higher, even as total listings and sold listings pulled back. Fewer cars, more conviction, and buyers clearly willing to stretch for the right examples. Scottsdale may be leaner than it used to be, but it still knows how to make noise.
